Rud Thygesen/Johnny Sorensen
In 1969, Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sorensen won first prize in a furniture competition organized by the Copenhagen Cabinetmaker's Guild. The furniture was presented to the Danish King Frederik IX on the occasion of his 70th birthday, hence the name the 'King's Furniture'. Meticulous detail and exclusive materials make the King's Furniture series a unique monument in Danish design history. The easy chair, stool and accompanying coffee tables (7505/7576) were the first pieces in the series, which has been expanded over the years to include a wide variety of other products.
